Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just put a engine in my 91' trooper. (2.8 4x4 auto) Having trouble starting it everything is hooked up imk pretty sure it will start but i have to pump the gas. Could it b bad gas, or a vaccum hose? It kinda smokes out the Throttle Body. Help!!

Maybe the timing is way off?

I did remove the distributor cap could that be it? Cause i had the motor in another trooper right before i put it in my nicer trooper, and i drove it around and was fine. I didnt tear into the motor at all. If it is the distributor how is the best was to check the timing? Thanks for your help!

The dist cap should go on and off without affecting timing...but if you twisted the distributor itself during install that would affect timing.

The only way I know of to check timing is the old-fashioned timing light method. Check a shop manual for the procedure.

Seems worth checking, the "smoke" from the throttle body says to me the timing could be off.
