Need a Spot
so I've got a nice rebuild long block, all the new parts you can think of and can't seem to figure out the o-ring/gasket that sits on the heater tube where it bolts to the under side of the intake manifold, this is the tube that runs around the back of the block. what came off looked like a ridged o-ring, but was not in the master rebuild kit, and the auto parts shops have no listing, of course it's a long weekend and the toyota dealership is closed.....help please. matt

Grab your VIN and go to www.toyodyi.com; might have it there. Seems I recollect it's not a true o-ring, but more squarish on the top/bottom rather than being fully round. The groove where it's seated should reflect that.

The NAPA guys might have a gasket book for you to look at as well, even tho' it's not showing up on a parts breakdown.

Doesn't that just make your day? They give you gaskets you'll never need, but they leave out important stuff like that o-ring and the distributor o-ring and the injector seals in a head gasket set! What're they thinkin'? I went to Harbor Freight and bought a save-the-day kit.

Cheap, too.

Are those all molded round in circumference? If so, it's not what he needs.

But yeah, nice to have some of that stuff when the parts store is 30 miles away.

I use a round o-ring from my Harbor Freight assortment and Permatex Ultra-Black silicone for insurance. I have done several and never had one leak. Also for insurance I coat the two bolts that attach that pipe with anti-seize so they will come out again later without breaking off.
