If anyone is going to junk yards to look at gen II or gen II.5 monteros, please keep an eye out for any of the tools that go in the took kit on the inside of the rear cargo door for me. I will pay a finder's fee, shipping, and the cost of the tools. I have searched all part yards listing a cargo door to see if they have tools in them, but so far no luck. they are unavailable brand new as far as dealers and parts distributors tell me so far. I am missing the screw driver and the Z shaped allen wrench. call me crazy, but I like my tool kit complete. there has to be some out there in part yards somewhere. M&S doesn't have it yet either, I have been checking, just wanted to spread the width of the search to all those that are going to part yards for other parts, just take a peak for me. thanks.

The screwdriver is useless for a stuck screw. I have ruined one philips in my life.

I have the allen wrench. As I have no sunroof, you are welcome to it. PM me an address and I'll get it in the mail.

depends on the size of the phillips head screw that you are trying to turn, there are different size screwdriver bits for different size screws. the screw driver that came in the mitsu montero is a medium sized screwdriver bit b/c most the interior screws are of that size. if you try to use a medium screw driver bit on a large phillips head screw, it will round it out.

Righto on the sizes. The other PITA is that my current one won't keep the shaft very tight in the handle.

Relatedly, have you ever searched Fleabay UK for a "torch" for a Paj? I've seen that meek little flashlight go for over $30!

wow, didn't know that, mine don't have the flashlight, they have some metal tool there in it's place, does anyone know what some of the 'weird tools' are actually included for? like the metal tool that is in there in place of where the flashlight goes, what is that for? how does that allen wrench work the sun roof? the only tools I know what to do with are:

screw driver is obvious
hub cover remover is very handy and tire shops should use them more often so they don't crack hub covers
lug nut wrench
lug nut wrench handle
pliers is obvious
open ended wrenches are obvious

what else is in there? I forget.

anyway, thanks to anyone who can hook me up with the screwdriver now, thanks for the allen wrench monty

I used the allen key on my sunroof the other day, since I wasn't sure how long it had been since it was opened...

1. Pull the plastic cover off (the black shiny plate one that says something about power roof) using a tiny screwdriver or something else flat...approach from the side, where there is a tiny slot.

2. You've now exposed the hexagonal hole. Insert the allen wrench, and touch the open button, to determine which way to turn the wrench.

3. Slowly crank open (or close) the sunroof. It seems that you are doing it without too much of a reduction gear, so it goes very slow. But it opened mine, which seems it hadn't been opened in years!

mine don't have the flashlight

You mean from the factory? My '97 has the flashlight. It still worked with the mitsu batteries when I got the truck. My pliers were missing but I found a similar pairand bent the handles a little so they fit in the slot for them. My tool kit was complete otherwise. I can't think of anything else that's in there but will look later

Nice find on the screwdriver
