Well hey, Brown! No, the smell is not still there and it drives fine. It lasted only a few minutes. However, the "check engine" light came on right after that, and when I took the Jeep through emissions just a few days later, it failed because that light was on and the test they do under the dashboard (no hookup to the exhaust) showed a problem with the oxygen. So I think that 1) there is a cause and effect connection here somehow, and 2) I have to take it in to have it repaired to pass emissions. Unless someone knows otherwise and can talk it through so that I can understand it (but slowly, and then I'll go fry some chicken while I think about it).


If things seem under control, you're just not going fast enough. (Mario A.)
