Embarrassingly for my old '68 Buick GS400, I was passed by a Daihatsu Charade (3 cyl., 1K cc) on a hill and couldn't catch up. The little Metros weren't that bad.

Consider, though: Each seat in your Buick weighs more than the whole Charade...

And in a crash, I know where I'd rather be.

Yes, the Buick was no slouch in the curb weight dept. I weighed it at a track once: full tank of 104-octane racing fuel, tools in the trunk, the car, and me = about 4,300 pounds. The car was loaded with a driver's power bucket seat, tilting back passenger seat, automatic with floor console, power windows, vacuum-actuated trunk release and all the other GM A-body bits. By the time I spun #7 rod bearing, it was using 60-wt. Valvoline oil and returning about 6 mpg. It never ran hot due to a 5-core radiator from a Caddy I installed. I miss the big block sound, sometimes I miss the car...but I wore it out street racing, poor Buick!

Just last year I bought my 89 2d v6 for $1500 from cap510.

He bought it for the same from a nearby business who had it just sitting in their yard for quite some time.

There's an 87 a/t swb around here on CL for about $800 asking. $1k seems average.

Stay tuned, I might put my silver 88 for sale, it will pass smog with a little spiking in the fuel.
