the blower motor in the gen II monteros is really easy to get to. you get at it from below. you take off the trim along the bottom of the door sill, then the cowl that covers the engine ecu where the passenger puts their right foot then the air duct that is black plastic, one screw and two little plastic buttons that you need to be careful with. push the middle part in just enough to make it pop, then carefully pull out the snap, to put it back in, pull the center pin back out, insert the snap all the way, and push center pin flush to lock it in place.

once you get the air duct on the floor off, you just unscrew the motor with just 3 easy screws and a plug.

I could take out an old one and put in a new one in less than 15 minutes with just a phillips screw driver.

I would never pay anyone to do work for me that I can do myself, they usually break those plastic snaps too and never put trim parts back correctly, in my experience with buying 3 used vehicles that have been worked on, I have seen some very messy work to include the water proof films in the doors that everyone thinks are just to keep dust out, that is where my water leak was coming from.

let me know if you need help or more descriptions on how to do it, it isn't hard at all though if it is like the 97 monteros I have, which it should be.
