Fuses were okay (although I have to buy some more, as I dropped TWO, and they fell behind that foot rest. ). Thanks for the advice guys. If I can get to it, I'll definitely try the direct power, and I wouldn't have thought to try that. I'm going to clean out enough space in my garage tonight so I can get it inside and get SOME heat on it.

the blower motor in the gen II monteros is really easy to get to. you get at it from below. you take off the trim along the bottom of the door sill, then the cowl that covers the engine ecu where the passenger puts their right foot then the air duct that is black plastic, one screw and two little plastic buttons that you need to be careful with. push the middle part in just enough to make it pop, then carefully pull out the snap, to put it back in, pull the center pin back out, insert the snap all the way, and push center pin flush to lock it in place.

once you get the air duct on the floor off, you just unscrew the motor with just 3 easy screws and a plug.

I could take out an old one and put in a new one in less than 15 minutes with just a phillips screw driver.

I would never pay anyone to do work for me that I can do myself, they usually break those plastic snaps too and never put trim parts back correctly, in my experience with buying 3 used vehicles that have been worked on, I have seen some very messy work to include the water proof films in the doors that everyone thinks are just to keep dust out, that is where my water leak was coming from.

let me know if you need help or more descriptions on how to do it, it isn't hard at all though if it is like the 97 monteros I have, which it should be.

Just unbolt it and get the fuses that fell.

Good luck on the fan.

HEY! I found a key to my truck behind that foot rest, so it was a blessing in disguise...I was down to ONE. smile

I got that panel off (too late, broke some tabs), and made sure the connections were good, but still no fan. I couldn't see an easy way to put power directly to the fan motor...I saw two connectors, both had more than 2 wires, so I was unsure how to do this. Can I just take some long electrical wire, connect to battery, and then I what, put the wires into the plug I disconnected?

Thanks for your patience guys...I know my ignorance is inexcusable, and annoying.

Check your FSM, it will tell you which pin is the positive for power, and likely there is a ground wire too.

Need a Spot
My blower does not work either. I checked the voltage coming out of the resistor and it was fine. I also hooked up voltage directly to the fan and it worked. Any suggestions?

UPDATE:

Well crap. I paid 30 bucks to a mechanic to fix my heater (I'm glad it was only 30, and I appreciate him only charging me that - I jus hate being such a dork!). He said there were a couple fuses blown (but NOT the heater relay fan - I had checked that). He put new fuses in, and everything worked fine. One of the ones blown was my brake light fuse he said. He wasn't sure what caused the blown fuse, and said I should drive it and see what happens.

Wife dropped me off this morning to pick up my truck, and it didn't work!!! I took it back. I just got the call, and he said it works fine when it is in the garage warmed up, but not after it sits the night. He said either it has water in it, or it needs a motor. What do you guys recommend??
