I own both of the carbs. I have the 32/36 on my Automatic because it is the only linkage that permits the stock kickdown on my 86 Montero with the 904 chrysler tranny. I have the 38 DGAS on my 83 truck and I am unable to get the kickdown from an 87 auto tranny to hook up to the linkage yet. You have no such problems with the 5 speed and either carb. My seat of the pants aka butt dyno cannot tell a difference between the two on a stock motor. If you plan acam change and headers, by all means go for the 38DGAS.
