So last weekend I hustled down to SC to pick up a 96 3000GT Spyder SL that had been listed on ebay and then to KY to pick up a 94 Stealth TT that had some minor front end damage. I probably put around 1500 miles on the monty that weekend and it handled the tow through the mountains just fine. I'm very impressed with it's tow capabilities through the mountains because each of these cars weigh 4000 lbs. Unfortunately I had to leave the Spyder down in NC at my parents house because I really didn't want to drive it back to PA while my GF drove the monty with the stealth on the dolly. These are the 2nd and 3rd cars I've towed with the Montero already and it's been on the road for less then a month (with 3000 miles put on the new engine). I can't believe the towing capabilities of the V6. It's very impressive. I'm not going to say I can accelerate up a steep incline, but we really weren't losing speed. Anyways, here are some pics of the Spyder on the tow dolly. I forgot to take pics of the yellow stealth getting towed by the monty . http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d111/3Scar/96%20SL/

I miss my 95 SR's 3.5 DOHC. I'll take the additional efforts for it over the 3.5 SOHC. I am waiting for my 95 3.0 to need rebuilding, then I'll see about swapping.
BTW, I hate you for getting a Spyder...

Those cars are really heavy.. Even the front wheel drive ones have no problems driving in 3-4 inches of snow
(my buddy came and rescued me one time when my corolla couldnt make it up the mountain in a snow storm)
Those SRs really do have some power though.. For the 1000 miles I drove the 1994 SR I had before it spun a bearing I fell in love with the Gen 2. The DOHC engine is a pain in the ass to work on... but once you get the hang of where all the tiny parts go and the trick of getting the heads on and off.. I wouldnt mind accidently falling into another $400 SR as a third vehicle.
Hans, Those tiny tires on it really do help with your towing/braking also.. are they 235s? 31 and over would probably start giving you some trouble on the hills..

I plan on getting another set of wheels so I can put some 35's or something on it when I'm not towing. I picked up my SR off of ebay for $321 in the salvage vehicle section. It had a blown engine with some missing parts. I bought another blown engine from texas and made one good engine out of the two with all new pumps, seals/gaskets, and belts. With the rebuilt engine, new suspension I have less then $2k invested and I already got my money's worth out of the truck. Steve is right though. You would hate me if I told you what I paid for that spyder LOL.

Wow man! Impressive collection of 3S's. I just got my 94 VR4 8 months ago and love it. Looks like you are not stranger to them. Thats an awesome looking Spyder. Those things are still up there in value, even the non-turbos.
So what did you end up getting the Spyder for if you dont mind me asking? And, are you parting out any of those Stealths? I'm sure you are already a member on 3si.org, right?
Good find bro! So where in NC is this Spyder at?

Good find bro! So where in NC is this Spyder at? I could tell you the exact address to the spyder and you still wouldn't be able to find it . It's in a gated community with private roads down in Lake Lure. I picked it up for $4500 and plan on fixing a few issues with it and reselling it for about 3 times as much money. That's pretty much what I do on a daily basis besides fixing other peoples Mitsubishi's. I'm definitely no stranger to the 3/S. I've owned well over 100 of them so far. I have plenty of parts (9,000 sq ft warehouse), so if you need something just shoot me a PM. I just picked up a 94 r/t parts car and I have a few vr4's and r/t tt's for sale right now. I used to be a member of 3si. Not much to learn from that website when you have been in it as long as I have haha.
