Ruben is the Stig.

The ammount to be taken off is minimal. You should buy them for me for my gen1. They have slightly smaller outer diameter front hubs and a smaller thing in the middle on the rear axle.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

16" rims with 5" backspacing for the 95 on the right. I've got 285/75 R16's - They nick the sway bar only on a full turn.

Ah, thanks Bretwalda. Me thinks I should be fine then. I clearanced one wheel center and it appears to fit fine sans tire. The inside wheel lip is only 1/4-3/8 further inboard. I picked up a set of lightly used 255/75R17 BFG Muds, which are 1 inch shorter and 1 inch narrower than what you run. Thanks for the input <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I'm travelling with the family over Spring Break next week, so it will be a couple weeks before I can finish the grinding.

I'll post up once the wheels and tires are mounted.

Thanks again,
David

BTW, I will have a set of 5 OEM 17x7.5 Alloys in excellent condition from a 2007 Jeep Rubicon for sale in a couple weeks. Pass the word...

That looks nice.

BTW whats the story on the RTT?
What rack is it mounted on? What brand/model tent? What came w/ it and did you get any other options with it? And of course, what did it cost?

Been considering an RTT at some point although I may just get a Tentrax w/ tent instead.

Thanks, everyone. I'm digging the new look. I would have liked a slightly taller tire, maybe 33" or 34" but this works fine. It is noticeably quicker running the lighter 255/75 BFGs compared to the 33x12.50 TSLs I had.

Offroader, here are a few details.

Quote

What rack is it mounted on?
No rack, just the tent custom mounted directly to a pair of standard Thule crossbars and Thule mid-height gutter mounts. The tent floor is rigid and does not require a rack.

What brand/model tent?
1st Gen. Mombasa I bought new, locally. The guy originally bought it from Car Top Tent but did not use it.

What came w/ it and did you get any other options with it?
It came with the tent, cover, crappy steel ladder and undersized rainfly. I replaced the ladder with a much improved aluminium ladder retrofitted from the 2nd Gen. Mombasa.

And of course, what did it cost?
I believe I paid $400 for it a couple years ago. Another $100 for the ladder. It is a pretty good tent considering the price. Plenty of room for myself, my 12 y/o and my 5 y/o. I have no experience with any of the higher-end (better quality) tents and can only compare it based on features I've seen in literature and other's reviews. If you plan on buying a RTT for a lifetime of use, you are probably better off spending the extra money up front and buying a really nice, quality unit from the start.

I dig rooftop tents, but I am also very limited on discretionary spending, so this 'cheap' RTT fits the bill for me. I would love to buy an Autohome Maggiolina Extreme one day, but they are quite pricey.

Anywho, I've thought about selling the Mombasa and building a poptop for the SR. I've always wanted to build one...

Feel free to shoot me any questions you may have about RTTs and I will try to answer them. I'm not an expert on them but I certainly have spent a lot of time obsessing about them.

Here's a pic of it open @ trip to Albert Mountain in NC here with Sparky, Chelsea, Fast Eddy and a few other folks.
