Hello all, I know the center bore diameter may be just a hair too small (that can be addressed), but I'm curious if the dimensions would work on a Gen2. I love plain steel wheels and have never been a fan of the polished factory 15x7 alloys my rig has. It appears the OEM FJC steel wheel is 17x7.5 / +15mm offset / 4.5" backspacing. Anyone running an aftermarket 17" on your Gen2? I have access to a set and since I'm thinking about buying a new set of tires I thought I may try this route.
Thoughts?

Judging the dimensions, you should be fine. At least for a GenI it would be. Will they let you test fit one?
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

I brought one home to take measurements. If it ever warms up here I will pull a tire off and see how close it would be to fitting.

I mounted up a Tacoma wheel on my Raider. I'd have used it except for the extra 0.5" inset of the wheel. Maybe there's more clearance room on the Gen II, but I liked the idea of a wider stance for my Raider. FWIW.

I took a quick look last night and the backspacing I measured is closer to 5", which I think will be too much. I will know for certain this weekend. Thanks for the input fellas!

Forget the backspacing. Stock montero offset is +10 mm, changing it to +15 mm is just fine if you plan to stay with close to stock tire sizes 31-32" if more you might start having issues. Although it would still prob fit 33s fine. One disadvantage going to 17" wheels tires will cost noticeably more. Then there is that center bore issue.

Okay, need more feedback. Here's what I found...
Stock 15x7 wheel on my 1997 SR has a bore of 108mm and approx. 4.50" backspacing from mounting surface to outside edge.
FJC 17x7.5 has a bore of 106mm and approx. 4-7/8" from mounting surface to outside edge.
The FJC wheel is 1/2" wider, but most of the width will be inboard. Has anyone had any experience running a wheel with 5" BS on a GenII? Any ideas if it will fit? I know it's only .5" but that can make a difference.
Thanks!

Thanks! If the tire is made for exactly 106mm hub you will need to bore it out further which can be a pain. BS fit will depend on the size tire you plan on using which you haven't said.

LOL @ Sparky aka The Stig.
I'm planning on 255/75-17 BFG Muds. I know I will need to grind the center bore out, but that should not be a big deal. It is really close to fitting and would only need a little grinding.
