It's almost time for the annual camping trip to Uwharrie and the GF doesn't want to get me another "If you're following me, you won't make it" T-shirt. Looking for a good 2" budget boost to set her on some 31's. Looking tonight all I see are add-a-leafs and shackles for the rear. I thought there were some BB's with full rear spring pack lifts available for around $250, but don't see any. Can someone point me in the right direction? Rubicon Express has one with rear lift blocks - Would that be a good alternative? Some of the others had rear shackle lifts. Let me hear it - good/bad/ugly! Thanks!

Check http://www.tomken.com

I used their 4" springs on my 89 XJ along with ProComp coil springs with 1" front spacer.

You need a drop-transfercase and longer brake lines.

That combo will fit 31" with very minor trimming.

Nice stuff. I'm more for the $178 2" BB than the $900+ kit. And no trimming allowed on this one - Trail damage, okay, but no sawzall to the fenders, says she. What do you think of the front spring spacer and rear block lift? I don't want to do an add-a-leaf that will just flatten out, but she doesn't need a lot more articulation for where we usually go, and $$ is a big issue. A bit of tire rubbing at full stuff, no big deal.

I started with add-a-leafs and was not happy with them. Hence, the 4" springs form Tomken. And, the real fender trimming I did was to clean up damage from that time.

I am not a fan of blocks as they are unstable in off-camber/extreme articulation situations. That makes them dangerous to someone I really care about - ME.

I know people runs blocks in the rear on many vehicles. IMHO, they are unstable and not worth the risk of a shift under stress.

You could keep the stock coil springs and go with a 2" spacer up front. Then, you could spend the few bucks for the 4" rear springs.

You still need extended brake lines and a drop-transfer case.

I agree that a little rubbing isn't a big deal as long as it is not taking chunks out of the tire tread....

Go with the bigger leaf springs in the rear. It will save you time and money in the long run....

Thanks for the replies. 2" pucks up front is a definite. And thanks for the info about the blocks. I'm not understanding your 4" springs in the rear though. I don't think you mean 4" lift...Is it a 4" thick leaf spring pack?

Also, with 2" lift is the T-case drop & extended brake lines really necessary? I was under the impression this wasn't req'd if only lifting 2". Happy Friday!

The leaf springs will give a lift depending on spring arch and length.

You buy leaf springs based on the amount of lift you desire.

I mean you need springs for a 4" lift. A 4" thick pack could give varying amount of lift... depending on length and arch.

Consider driveline angles....

Yes, when you start lifting a vehicle by suspension, you need to compensate by dropping the t-case. You should lonly need a 1/2 inch to 1" drop (spacer between the t-case mounting and frame).

You will be a lot happier with no driveline vibration to destroy u-joints....

How about this kit? Comes with springs all around, and for less than $600 before shipping and taxes. RE Cherokee 3.5" lift

I know it doesn't come with shocks, but it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Sure wished they had that when I was doing mine.....

That looks like a reasonable price kit....

That is a nice one. If it was my Cherokee, I'd be going at least 3.5", but it's the GF's daily driver, drives clients around, etc. So I can't go too crazy. And the 2" should clear 31's except at full stuff, and that's as big as she's going to get. I'm not regearing this one. I would like to find a 2" that has a full rear spring pack though. And stay under $250.
