It is a 3/16" x 2" - 3ft steel bar from Lowes ($10.50), the bolts are 7/16" x 1 1/2" stainless (1.50).

I used a 7/16" drill bit on the holes and a 1/3HP bench grinder on the void. Took me about an hour with a couple smoke breaks and BAM the crankshaft bolt was off with no problems.

Remember kiddies, short cuts can lead to problems. Not to say the other ways won't work also BUT use the right tool for the job or you will regret it immediately or eventually.


Nicely done. How far apart are the bolts? Can you also share the dimensions on trapezoid cutout you made into the bar stock?
