Here's a trivia question concerning the timing belt tensioner pulley, do the 2 holes go above or below the bolt? I've seen both ways in the service manuals but no one ever says anything about it. OR

It's a cammed bolt, it'll find its home with proper torque. Gravity will drop it to the bottom of range, then it'll wind around when you get to torque. It's not a specific position is what I'm trying to say...
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

That makes no sense. The holes are either on top or on bottom BEFORE you tension the pulley. Do you tension it clockwise or counter-clockwise. It doesn't "do it by itself". If you look at the pictures, in one it shows you push DOWN to tension, in the other it shows you tension UP.
Sounds like you don't know either.

Gosh, I've only done it like 30 times or so, with 0 failures. Guess I really don't know.
Anyhoo. If you look at the pictures, it's a cammed center. Kind of like alignment cams on the rear of a FWD vehicle. If you rotate it towards the belt in a clockwise direction, it'll create tension. When you reach the torque spec, lock it down. Done. Top or bottom doesn't matter. It will find its home with torque. Perhaps that's clearer? If not, perhaps Eddie can translate this for you. I think he's still fluent in Alabamanese...

The question was where the holes were supposed to be, on top or bottom but you didn't say. Nor did you say clockwise, which I asked. And it DOESN'T just "find it's place". Perhaps if you spent more time being CLEAR in answering a question the first time then the sarcasm wouldn't have blown out your ass. Thank you for being clearer on your second response. Perhaps even saying "it doesn't matter top or bottom will work" would have served as well. And just because you've done it 30 times doesn't mean a fart if you can't communicate directions properly.

I speak NORTH Alabamanese. I have trouble understanding people from Mobile - too much French influence, which may expain the rudeness...

That makes no sense...
Sounds like you don't know either. I know you're probably frustrated but perhaps instead of trying to call him out just because you didn't understand you'd be better served by simply asking if he can explain it better much like Justice did? That's usually worked better for me anyways although I must admit I haven't always handled things that way. HTH

I was at work and in a hurry to try to help you out. That's why my last was "I hope that makes sense" or some such. I understand being frustrated with a certain part of a project and not getting an answer that makes sense to YOU, no matter who else it makes sense too. A saying goes "One hasn't taught until someone has learned." My apologies for not being clear in the first reply. And I'm sorry for the sarcastic start to my second reply. I'm an idiot and I truly have no sense of cooth or manners... Hope you've got it licked and it's smooth sailin' from here
