I've been a dick in some of my past posts, too. Ask Justice and others. I've been frustrated on stuff and typed in anger before. No biggie...
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

McMilo, hope you never meet Hannibal Lecter. I understand he is fond of free range rudes. His creator is a pretty close neighbot of yours, too, right over in Mississippi...
My cousins U-Don and K-Don, the twins, now live in Baldwin County, and since they are not real bright, it's easy to offend them. Now, they may not be able to find Mobile, so you might be safe if you stay off the causeway, but they are the kind that would not be fazed by the Alabama's guns once they get the fire stoked up...
I'd steer clear of the Eastern shore, was I you.
Fair warning...

I replaced 2 cam seals, main seal, etc. was putting in water pump and major problems. 4 bolts are 10 mm heads. 1 stripped out and 3 others are turning to mush. fsm sez 17 lbs. torque this sucks. holes and bolts were clean but i did notice they all had soft looking sealant in them. 97 3.5 montero ls. with 145k. so i dont think orignal belt was in there it looks newish. what in the hell do i do now? i was careful with my torque wrench and am not sure the 3 others are mush yet but highly suspect they wont make it to 17 lbs, but all of the other 12 mm head ones are. i have some jb weld and am tempted to back the others out and lil dab will do me...or do me in? fsm has 2 bolts pictured. are the 10 mm bolts different...aint no way cuz it needs even pressure. didnt mitsi make the planes that bombed us? this fiasco of design has putridized my high. i went and got the revised crank bolt and greenville sc parts were dumb as dirt...all in all this making gtools and ordering stuff off ebay and then this is nonsense. i am getting sadistic.

i meant it had soft looking gasket sealant squished in holes...i took a dental hook and scraped clean and wire brushed the bolts before this crap happened. this is assinine. 17 lbs for all sized bolts? this tear down started cuz the montero ran out of water and by the time i got home the water pump gasket blew. it just hit the red as pulled in and (this is 3 months ago) so mebbe it had been boogered before. metric inserts? b weld...i will go whoring and calm down before i ASSes the bummer. please help out what to do. joke: whats the difference between a dead whore and a corvette? i dont keep a corvette in my garage. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

Are you using in-lbs of ft-lbs? The spec calls for 17 foot pounds. I would go ahead and see if I could torque to the 17 pounds. If they strip put in helicoils, it's a simple job and it will be right with the world. Look at the big picture, when you get all the PO's bug worked out you have a truck you can depend on.

indeed the helicoils will be hunted down. i dont understand. i went and put the cam sprockets back in to 64 ft lbs and thought thats not enuff and gave the extra nudge, i know the original cam seals were in it they were brittle and i guess the factory had them so tight i know it took more than 150 torque lbs and the loud tink sound that both cams i felt like i had popped the bolt head off. (thats when taking them off) so putting them back on i use tb blaster lubricant,,,not penatrant and really the 64 lbs didnt feel right..hence i think the book is a little wrong i guess the bolts were stretched. but my guess is i felt better tightend to about 90 lbs and they made a little normal tight sound. all i am saying is feel right trumps the manual. but the dang water pump bolts...thats different, and look at the crank position sensor bolts ...9 lbs...little lite. oh well i doubt the factory had them bolts at no 64 lbs. i am not used to such a screwy design.
