That got a fairly fast response. The forum moderator said $1500 +/-, so I'll assume it's about right..... more if I can find someone who really wants one.
But, it does seem to be in never-never land territory - never really nice enough for a fine collectible, and never bad enough for others to understand why I'd want to shoot it.
I think I'll take it to the range and see how it shoots..... or more like how I shoot it....... and then make a decision.

These are nice folks, and I would appreciate anything you could buy from them. Quick Tucker Gun story. In the 90's, there was a movement in the Tucker rich side of town in support of a couple in Africa, naturalists who were fighting poaching of elephants for ivory/meat. They were highly successful, and had a TV documentary and a successful book. They hired local game guards. Our folks undertook to supply the guards, who were literally barefoot. Milsurplus boots/uniforms/gear. They had to smuggle the stuff in or it would "disappear" enroute. The naturalists got a grant from the Frankfort Zoo, and got a Cessna bush plane and a set of 9mm pistols and burp guns, but no ammo. The local Tucker relative of the wife of the nats walked into Tucker Gun and ordered 20k rounds of 9mm and started telling the poor clerk what she was going to do with it. She couldn't understand why he ran into the back when she was half throught the tale. They smuggled the stuff (this is PTA soccer van moms here we're talking about) find a ferry pilot, one of the crazies who take a kingair purchased stateside and to be delivered overseas to Africa, stuff a rubber fuel bladder and a fuel transfer pump in the cabin, and FLY that inadequate range mofo across the Atlantic) who had some "extra weight" available), meet him at ptree dekalb GenAv airport on the fueling apron, and transfer the uniforms, combat boots, and 20k rounds of ninemike to the plane. They were in the process of doing so when about 10 fed cars pull up, guys from ATF, DEA, SS, USM, and FBI, with an empty bus. 3 simultaneous cases of female urinary incontinence. Then the prisoner transport plane taxis up and they offload the scum onto the bus and drive away. As did Frank on the plane and the pta pres, veep, and treas. And the elephant herds are steadily growing, and the folks who used to hunt them guide tourists and run seed oil press hand mills, and cultivate honey, and sew clothes on treadle machines, and no longer need to kill for meat. And in Tucker, they still laugh over alcohol about the pta arms smugglers vs. the Gmen...

I did call Tucker Gun, but the fellow said they had sold all of the Colt magazines.

Frank, I posted on www.varminthunters.com website asking for a knowledgeable 1911 guy who might live in your area. I frequent that site alot, know both the owners and have met and hunted with about 75 of the regular members on that site...not much danger there in meeting a stranger. I got this reply from a fellow named "Hotcap". It seems like good advice, I hope it helps you. " I live upstate SC but a good place to get a true apprasial and just possibly best sell price would be at The IDPA State Championship at Mid Carolina club in Columbia the 25th of April. I shoot CDP (1911 45's) class and there will be a bunch of other shooters of 1911's there as well, who some of which will be very knowledgeable. "

Bruce - thanks a bunch! That sounds like it would be worth my time to get a second opinion.
So, some 1911 shooters are out of the closet and into the open, eh? Imagine that.
Thanks again.

You might also try Biff Sullivan at the link below. Biff used to work for Hugh Brock, then went out on his own before Hugh drove him out of his mind. Biff might have the correct magazine in his stuff. Biff is a noted authority on military sniper rifles. Open any book on that subject, and you will find several photos of sniper rifles that are credited to Biff. He sounds brief/abrubt over the phone, but is a nice guy. Sullivan's Classic Arms
