Made a dicey left turn this evening and paid for it. I got hit on the driver's side rear quarter panel, right on the wheel. I didn't think there was much damage at all until I realized the entire axle was pushed over 6" and apparently not connected to the frame at all. Limped the few hundred feet back home after getting everything straightened out with paperwork. Surprisingly little body damage, but I suspect the rear axle mounts are completely gone. Still drives, but sounds awful. I'm pretty sure the insurance company would total it, but I only have liability so it's up to me anyway.
Anybody want a parts car? 95SR, 206k on the clock but engine rebuilt about 50k ago. Has a noisy lash adjuster, but otherwise fine. It's in Marshalltown IA and would need to be trailered.

<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> sorry for your loss but on the up side though, why not fix it? mounts are a simple repair for somebody that can weld. who got the ticket? was one issued? dont be so quick to write off getting paid by ins... it takes time, and a whole lot of bartering.

Yeah sorry to hear about your Tero. But I am guessing it wouldn't be that much trouble to get it fixed vs parting it out etc.

Glad you did not get hurt. We need pics.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

I know what is involved with repairing the frame in your case and it's not that bad of a job. Check for more broken parts, If all you have to do is replace trailing arm mounts That will be a cake job for any custom fab shop.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I may think more about fixing it vs. parting it. I will have to get underneath it and take a look. I will take pics tomorrow.
Is there anybody in Iowa who might be interested in either a parts car or earning a couple cases of beer fixing it?

The damage doesn't appear to be as bad as I thought it would be. I may be able to get away with some new sway bars. Unfortunately, there is not a junkyard nearby, so I will have to travel for my parts. Anybody have access to sway bars? Does anyone know what years would be interchangeable with my 1995 SR? I don't have any tools here, but now may be a good time to invest in things like jackstands which I have always had access to but not personally owned. If someone wanted my 95SR axle for trade for their non-SR one, I would trade it for their help in getting this job done.
