Lloyd,
Do you think it would have gotten bent even though it never hit the curb? It came to a stop from tires skidding, not impact, fortunately.

I reassembled the previously-cut panhard bar today. A smaller section of pipe was welded into that they would fit together long enough to get it somewhere where it could be welded securely. However, the 'new' panhard bar showed me that there are more problems than I can fix on my own. The normal length panhard bar is too short. With the direction that the axle moved, that is backwards- if everything else were aligned, it should be too long, not too short. I can see that the mounts for the bar are bent. The trailing arms don't look bent to me. The axle measures 1 1/8" off center. It drives and tracks well.

Anybody want to buy it? I'll take $1500. A torch, big hammer, and a welder could get it back in running condition. A new axle would be ideal, but in my novice opinion isn't strictly necessary.

I wonder if it shifted the body on the frame making it look like it is too short.

I am a bit lat to the game here but for a quick and temporary repair, get a jack under the bend in the panhard bar and jack it upwards to straighten it. Whatever other tools as needed to get it close to straight.
This can get most all of the bend out of it and allow you co drive and check other parts.
Do not consider the straightened bar as a long term repair.

I took it to a body shop in town and talked them into a ghetto fix with no cosmetics. They put it on their frame machine and tweaked it back into shape. I will post pics tomorrow.
