Iceblue, have you noticed that your mileage changes depending on where you get gas? I believe the fuel sold in high altitude locations is formulated differently.

I have noticed that my truck runs good on shell gas down here in farmington, but when i'm at home, shell and any of my family's toyota's really don't seem to like shell. I do notice a slight, as in half a mpg, drop in milage at home. when ever i can, i run conoco in my truck at home, because it runs better, and i get the same milage as down here. other than that, i dunno. the throttle body spacer should be here tomorrow or the next day, so we'll see what happens.

Interesting idea with the spacer I say, where did you order it from?

Make sure you post pics on how you do it too when you install it smile

fyi. At least in the NE, all fuels come through the same pipeline. Kero, gas, fuel oil, etc. They throw in a dye to signal sensors to send the stuff to a specific holding tank. There is no difference between the generic 87-93 octanes. You just pay for the name. If you are lucky you will catch the tail end of av gas with 87 and make out. Other than that, around here is is all a bs routine as to Mobil, Exxon, etc. The whole deal is a big setup. Even KwikFil, a so called US only company, is prone to dilution from other sources. Most of our stuff comes from NJ, but that is also connected with the New Orleans and Texas stuff.

Just like green beans or milk. You think the name brand comes from a different processor? 10 cents a can or 25 cents a gallon for "name" brand??? Ex. Up here Wegman's, Aldi's, Byrne, Topps all have the same milk supplier and bottling plant............Up to 30 cents a gallon difference from the same bottler......

well, i got installed. only took about 45 minutes. one thing that i forgot to do though, is remove the negative cable. since i didnt do this, i got a check engine light from the fact that the engine wouldn't hold a correct idle. i disconnected the negative cable, and let it sit for about 15 minutes, and all was good. the idle is a little high (950-1100), but it should even out once it gets used to it. i have noticed a gain of power right about where airaid said it would, right off idle up to about 2500. i didn't have to adjust the throttle cable, because it came with new brackets for the throttle cable and the fuel pressure regluator vacuum line. it seems to be runnin great, and i just filled it up, so we'll see if it improve's my milage. here's some pictures of the spacer installed, and the new brackets. the pic's of the install didn't turn out good enough to put up. here ya are...

Body Damage is Cool
Interesting.

While my 3.4 has never gotten anything like 26 mpg, I have noticed it is very sensitive to how I accelerate from stop lights and stop signs. Just a little bit brisk, and the gas mileage drops like a rock. Highway speed changes don't make nearly as much difference. Very little mpg difference running 60 vs 70.

you know, me and a friend have both noticed something rather interesting out about our 3.4s. he has a '95 tacoma, with a supercharger. we both are using cone filter intakes, his is a full k&n and mine is just a k&n cone filter. we have both noticed that there is a certin point in the throttle that causes a slight whistle. it seems to be right after you crack the throttle. we noticed that on the supercharged tacoma, this whistle is right at 0 psi on the boost gauge, as in no longer in vacuum, but not completly boosting. at this point and lower seems to be where i get the best milage. with the throttle body spacer, this sound is louder, so i can really tell where it is.
