Time for an update...

Finally put snorkel on a few weeks ago, and put the tires on this week. 33x1050 KM2s. Yes, "Pizza Mudders". Got about 650kms on them so far. They handle the road like an AT. On gravel, they actually track a little more sure-footed, to my mind... I haven't adjusted the 35psi that the tire shop put them at, yet. Wanna get a feel for them at different pressures, and decide where to run em at.

Anways, a few garage pics, till I get out and use these bad boys...

Lowered my RPMs by about 250 on the hwy @ 100kmh. According to GPS my speedo went from an indicated 3 kmh low on factory-sized rubber to an indicated 6kmh high, again @100kmh. That's really not too bad turning a 33" tire.

From my baseline measurements when I got the truck, it sits 4 inches higher in total now, than it did when I got it.

More pics and updates as they come.

Whoa! Didn't realize your mirrors were 'mirrored' until now. Nice blingage.

You'll like the tires & will find they're pretty quiet on the freeways as the Grasscat can attest.

Keep it coming Phil!

Truck is looking great Phil! Glad you made the transition from the land of A/Ts to M/Ts. And the 33x10.5s don't look too much like pizza cutters at all. Or maybe my perception is twisted because I am running 34x9.5s which are even narrower.

Put in a triple gauge pod a while back, but on our camping trip the boost gauge line blew out - I don't think the line that the shop sold me was built for heat - I went and got some airbrake hose, and replaced it. All is good now... but with an accurate gauge, I could tell that my truck was boosting mostly up to about 10psi, occasionally touching 12psi with the trailer, going up a big hill. I put a washer under both actuator bolts, and now I come up on 12psi with liberal amounts of throttle. Gotta love a cheap, quick mod, esp after the annoyance of having to run the boost line twice!

The second gauge is a voltmeter, that I decided to leave on all the time. Its gets power from a fuse block I put behind the glovebox. I like having it "always on" so I can run things off the battery with the engine off, and know where my battery is...

Third gauge is an EGT. I put the probe post-turbo, after much deliberation. This gauge is very handy, esp when towing in extreme elevation changes.

[Linked Image]

All gauges are VDO, and I chose basic black, to fit in with the cutting edge 90s interior

Added a cheap brake controller for towing - mounted it sideways because I couldn't find another position where I could reach the trigger/controls if necessary...

[Linked Image]

Did some more tweaking of my fold out bed/drawer combo too. Added some metal corners, etc.

Finally, I began work on the aux battery. I already have two batteries underhood, but I wanted a third one in the back as a back up for the trailer, and for running accessories off of. I had a battery separator from Betsy III, so today I started setting it up again for this truck.

[Linked Image]

Used very very thick 1/0 cable, and ran a ground to the body, in the back. The third battery will be going in front of the drawer, in a compartment accessible via a hatch in the top.

Oh, I put the airbag valves through the bumperà

...and added a hitch-vise to eliminate rattle:

Finally, I drilled the bumper for the original headlight washers, which do work...

Looking real good Phil. It would be nice if we could get one of those Monty's down this way. I bet it's a great tow vehicle for small rigs.

I notice the first picture is printed backwards, I thought those days were gone or maybe it's a right hand drive and everything is cool.

Quick update: third battery setup is finished - I still need to get another AGM; right now there's a lead-acid in the back, which obviously I don't want to leave there, longterm. Tweaked the bed-drawer mounting once more. Also, finally got my trail gear sliders on yesterday. Need to do some more wire-brushing tomorrow, and then hammertone-paint them to match the bullbar. Pics tomorrow if I finish it...
