glad I happened to pop in over here. I just rebuilt everything on the front and rear of my T-100. My idler arm was shot. I replaced the bushings and seal but it was the bolt that goes to the steering rod that was sloppy this time......anywho got one off another truck with way less miles but that bolt is lose too. Looks like the TC idler will fix the problem. In looking at the idler I was wondering why that bolt is made the way it is on the factory arm......

next project.......after TC idler......redo the whole OBA system.

Something you did, or I did?

nah it was me.....
Back when I put it all together I did it rather hastily so I'm going back and putting the correct connections on the York and adding an oil recirculation system. Also going to reroute the hoses and connect the intake air to the truck intake air box that way I will be pulling through the trucks air filter. Repainted the air tank and reworked some fittings. Just stuff that should have been done years ago.

Do you still have yours on your truck? I don't think Scott ever mounted his. I think his truck is just a garage obstacle now.

That's good. Mine works well. I moved it over to my '97 4runner project.

I had sent the bracket to Budbuilt to have him copy it, but he never got around to it so I had him send it back. These guys make one now though and the price is very reasonable:

A few people on PBB are running it.

looks pretty much like yours except for the pivot point they put on the tension pulley. BTW I'm thinking about running 1/4" air hose this time instead of the 3/8". It will only be from the manifold back to the air tank and a short piece to the air coupler I have mounted on the front bumper. The other lines (air intake and supply from compressor) are going to be metal air tubing with rubber mounts to allow for engine movement. 1/4" should be fine don't you think?

Intake I would make as large as possible since you only have atmospheric pressure feeding it. The rest being 1/4" should be ok since its probably relatively short.

If the hose was too small and you were pulling a large volume of air and/or have a long hose, you would have a pressure drop. For tires it would probably never matter since the valve stems are so restrictive, but IIRC you run air tools and stuff off yours.

yeah just mostly airing up tires now. i might just go back with 3/8. the pump pulls air in so not sure what you mean by atmospheric pressure. I've put my finger over the intake before and it has a pretty good suction.

Its the same reason intake tubes and valves on engines are almost always larger than output/exhaust pipes/valves- you can "suck" as hard as you want, but ultimately you are limited to the force of atmospheric pressure to feed the air into the end of the hose. The output/exhaust is forced out at high pressure and can pass a lot more gas through a smaller port, in less time.

Lower intake pressure is the reason the suction/output hoses on an AC compressor are different sizes too (suction is larger), but that system is sealed, so atmospheric is not the reason there.

ahh not thinking...hence a super charger to force more air in......not much on the "how it works" just know "this is how it was so...."

I'm gonna stick with the 3/8 hoses.
