Shocks don't support the vehicle or change the ride height significantly unless they are "air shocks," (not to be confused with normal gas charged shocks).

Even though some gas charged shocks have upwards 200psi, the shaft is very small and that psi pushing on that shaft diameter doesn't translate to very much spring force...
