can anyone help me with the prosses of changing the oil+filter on a 2001 sportage auto gearbox thanks

the below is for the power steering if thats what you need, or are you needing it for the Trans ?

better to flush the system, first I think the filter is at the top of the reserve tank. get Dexron fld 4 qts or lts. plug the return tube at the reserve tank, buy take a long enough tube from the return line from the pump and put it in a gal milk jug, remove the reser. cap have someone crank the engine, don't let it run long at all, don't let the reser. tank to run dry, keep adding fld until it looks clean coming out of the return line in the milk jug. after you finish rehook up the line to the tank, start the engine turn the steering wheel from 1 side to the other afew times with the cap off to get any air out but watch the the reser. tank does not run dry from the air leaving turn off fill to level and you should be set replace cap. it's easier then it sounds.

I would just drain the fld. with the drain plug and measure how much came out and add that much back in, then add any fld as needed, the tans. has a small fld strainer not a reg. type filter in it. do you have the owners manual ? jm2c
