I just picked up a 96 t 100. Everything worked fine when I bought it. But the body was rough so I sent it to a buddy to fix. Well 2 months later I picked it up and the 4x4 doesn't work anymore. When you pull the t case in it engages, the front shaft turns when you drive, but there is no power to the front wheels. I've never owned a yota with auto hubs so IDK how they work. Are they vacume or electric.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should check or look for?

The hubs are vacuum activated. Check the VSV and the lines.

Sorry to cross link another forum but it'll save me the typing. The circumstances sound suspicious - I have to wonder if while doing the bodywork somebody befuddled the vacuum lines. I've heard more than one person "find" they'd been switched at the VSV by someone working on the vehicle. See thread below: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288001
