The inserts are nice for the manufactorers use. The guys on the line have an easy way to get the thing together while it is moving past them.
The inserts aren't needed for home use. Just getcha some nice big bolts/nutz and put her back together. Make sure to put some good lock washers in place and you should be Ok.
