I've had people at work do alot worse with a screwdriver trying to spin out main bearings. The file will get the edge off and you the assess it at that point. From the looks of it once you have filed it the best you can so it will not cut the new seal, install the seal shallow so the lip will run out on the undamaged area. Due to the direction of rotation that is not prone to cut the seal. Again when you install the seal do not seat it home, make sure it is solidly and squarely in but leave it out 2 or 3mm so the lip runs on undamaged surface.
