Hi Guys,

This may be a crazy question, but is there a thicker/tougher front windshield availiable for the JK? I'm on my 3rd windshield in less than a year. All 3 have been Factory OEM glass, and none have lasted more than 3 months. i know windshields don't last long when you get a rock chip in -30c weather, but I've replaced more in the past year than the previous 20.

I know cracked windshields are a part of life, and I do live with them, but in all three, the crack worked it's way right into my field of vision.

You should contact the white house and see what Obama is using, one like his ought to work for ya.
Down here the Craigslist has ads for ANY windshield replaced at your home or work for $145.

God I know, I cracked another one on mine. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

Darn thing is almost flat, I wonder if you could get a thick piece of polycarbonate or Lexan cut to fit.

Must be a thin sheet, everyone I've talked to with a JK has replaced thier windshield at least once. Some 4 times.

I've seen polycarbonate (Lexan) windshields advertised for other Jeep vehicles (TJ), so I would think someone will have one for the JK. They are not DOT approved though (off-road use only) b/c of the difficulty EMS/ Rescue crews have getting through them. If it's a soft top I wouldn't be worried about that though.

hmm! cheapest I can find is $350 with only a 6 month warranty and a discount on rock chip repair for a year, they also need the Jeep for 5 hours to do the install!

Think I'm going to live with the crack for a while, or at least until a county mountie notices it!

Shop some more.. Most windshields cost the installer around $120. down here.. It'd almost be worth the trip to drive it here and have a new windshield installed while you visit.
These guys will meet me and my vehicle anywhere I ask, within reason of course.
