I recently purchased a laptop that uses PC2-6400 DDR2 memory modules. I'm trying to find a decent price for 8gb of this memory (2x 4gb modules). Some places don't carry this yet while others are showing a $500+ price.
Any advice on where I can get decent prices for memory? Oh, the shop I bought my laptop from doesn't carry this memory yet.
TIA

For most computer parts I look on pricewatch.com to see who has it cheap.

He needs laptop memory. Hard to beat Newegg at $515usually ouch. Why do you need so much memory in your laptop anyway? Are you trying to run some substantial database out of it?

Well maybe you need to buy desktop with good memory. It still might be cheaper. You could also use good video card.

Alex,
Don't worry. I know the benefits between the two. I used to sell both to various corporate clients.
Reason I have the laptop is (A) it's fast enough for most graphics imaging I'm doing and (B) it's portable.
I just want the memory to eek out a few more grams worth of speed. I'll probably wait a few months to buy the memory. As I understand it from my research so far, this memory format is still fairly new so there's lots of room for the price to come down.

I've used www.crucial.com for memory. Linky They have a lifetime warranty and one can usually get free shipping.
