I was riding my '83 Nighthawk with a friend who has a H-D 1800 something or other. It's huge, it's all chrome, and super expensive. A guy was looking at us funny at a light, and I said "yeah, he's getting ready to kick my ass"...the guy cracked up.

First commute to work today. 160kms, including about 10k of loose gravel. Last year on the gravel: 30km/h, all over the place, and very afraid. This year: 90km/h, all over the place, and LOVING it.
This morning I topped up the tank to dilute some of the "Stabil" gas left from last year. Hit the highway and got pushed around by some big wind gusts and some big trucks. Wore my winter bike gloves and still almost needed the grip heaters (temp was around 5*C, then subtract windchill). Had liners in both overpants and jacket.
This afternoon - summer gloves, almost removed the (too warm) linings, but it looked like rain (didn't pack my rain gear), so I hoofed it home, a little toasty. The funny burning smell when I got home told me that the strap hanging off my briefcase onto the muffler was more than a little toasty.
Good to be back in the saddle! Stay safe out there gals and fellas!
