Most cars have egt sensors to protect the cat or turbo, and most trip around 950*C. I don't think you can install just any type K thermocouple and have it work. It must have the right mounting hardware, and the type of electrical wire and wiring junctions you use can grossly affect the accuracy of the measurement. Buy the oem part.


ok i've verified by swapping over the part from the 3.0 to the gdi that the parts are (hopefully)the same, even the connectors and the color of the wires(the length too). i just havent tested the car yet as its already 2am when i swapped out the parts. will be testing this tom and keeping fingers crossed. at least when it works, i know what is causing the fault codes and its fairly easy to replace (depending on the part availability of course) at least i wont have worries of anything melting.
