25k miles, no problems before this. Now it will stall during stops mostly, after it has been driven for a while, like 20+ minutes.

A 2006 with 25K should still be under warranty.

Yes it is. I wanted to get a heads-up on what the problem might be because when I called the dealer and told him the problem he didn't seem too happy (cause I didn't buy it from them?) and asked me, "Then we'll have to drive it?" He's the mechanic and he's asking me what to do?

does it have a throttle cable or fly by-wire ? anyway the throttle body might need cleaning

Told me couldn't find anything wrong. Told me maybe it was bad gas. So I'm stuck with waiting for it to happen and then be so repeatable that I could take it to them. Thanks.

Thats the problem with with intermittent problems, it has to happen for the mechanic for them to find it. If the dealer is not treating you right just because you didn't buy it from them call Kia customer service. It should't make any differance where you bought they are getting thier money from Kia. If you are not the original owner try to get it fixed before the inital warranty is up, the 10 year 100,000 miles is only for the original owner.
Good luck, Dennis

Fortunately, there is the OBDII system in your car. Go back to the Kia dealer, tell him to stop treating you like charity: the OBDII system is the equivalent of the famous black box in a commercial aircraft: it records events, and stalling is definitely a recordable event. My 2000 Sportage did it when I had about 19K miles in it, and after they connected the computer to it, they found the ignition module for cylinders 1 and 4 was coming loose, they tightened up the connector and bada-bing, problem solved. The problem seems that if the dealer cannot see a way to make money out of you they don't want to bother. I also suggest you call Kia customer Service. Hope this helps. obdII does not always pick up. my wife has a 2000 vw bug turbo that once in a while it stalls when you come to a stop. and it does not code. the dealer just shakes his head. most likely the throttle sticks. by all means hook up the scanner.
