Fortunately, there is the OBDII system in your car. Go back to the Kia dealer, tell him to stop treating you like charity: the OBDII system is the equivalent of the famous black box in a commercial aircraft: it records events, and stalling is definitely a recordable event. My 2000 Sportage did it when I had about 19K miles in it, and after they connected the computer to it, they found the ignition module for cylinders 1 and 4 was coming loose, they tightened up the connector and bada-bing, problem solved. The problem seems that if the dealer cannot see a way to make money out of you they don't want to bother. I also suggest you call Kia customer Service. Hope this helps.
