mount the spring backwards...

While that could be done, I want to keep the axle cycling toward the rear instead of toward the body. I also think the shackles would be more susceptible to damage forward of the axle. The shackles are definitely weaker than that solid frame mount up there.

The springs are under the axle, and I ordered 37's with double beadlocks today. In the following pictures, the fuel tank interference on the D60 is painfully obvious. I don't know how we'll resolve this, but it's on the top of the list. I think the spring over just makes it too high. I REALLY want to take the body lift out, but won't be able to do that until we get the transmission to the shop and drive train mocked up. I also won't know how much room I'll need WRT to tire clearance until the wheels and tires get mounted.

What is the length of the top arch? I would really consider changing it to a shorter one. Just my .02. On my project I am using a full size chevy frame. I was going to use the springs I had and they are 56". My buddy offered me his 48" springs from his spare front end so now I will be using them on my rearend. Chevy used different spring lengths for short bed, long beds and K5 blazers. I was going to have the same problem with the springs sticking out of the back. Is it possible to make some kind of bracket or move the hangers to move the gas tank back just a bit? Looking good. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

That's a great idea. I've thought about it, but will have to see what we can come up with. I may want to move the axle forward rather than move the tank. Space is tight back there...Thanks for the thought.



Yeah, it'll be a little more work to get these buggers on and off. 150# of steel, rubber and PVC per corner. I'm looking forward to it!
