Daaaang...I finally logged in to check mine...everything is gone as well. I have it all on 2 separate local drives, but what a pain...I'll be using the Wire from now on.

Mine are all backed up as well, in a couple of ways. It's actually going to be easier to load all new images into one day's folder instead of (me) having something like fifty different day's folders and not remembering what's in each one of them.

I'll stick with the service. I'm a supporter of one of our suppliers, in a sense.

I have all my pics as well but the hard part will be sending the right ones.

Now that I've learned that his backups were corrupted, I'm really peeved about the whole situation. An extra year of free service really nothing in comparison to the time it will take me to cull through thousands of pics and sent him the right ones to post up!!!

A proper service provide would have had proper reliable backups of this server and kept them where they wouldn't be corrupted! I will be writing a serious email to him about this and ask if he will be putting something more reliable in place.

It's going to be exceptionally difficult for me to give him all the right files to post up.

Similar to what was mentioned in the article below, "...if you can't afford to lose it, don't put it there."

Not all accounts were free.

Also what does being in the industry have to do with anything? My comment is directed at montypics who by offering an online data (picture) hosting site is also in the industry and should have known better and been performing incremental backup's, not just a single backup during the migration. Irresponsible planning / business practice if you ask me.

Don't get me wrong. I've met and wheeled with the owner of Montypics and from my recollection he too was in the industry before he offered montypics. Anyhow he really should have known better and had better practices in place.

Plus, wasn't the owner of this site, at one time, disliked by most of the Montero 4x4wire folks?? And didn't he leave the site "in a huff"?

If that is the same guy I was thinking about...then on you if you lost all your stuff there.

Two MRI's and a CAT scan....it's confirmed. I'm just not right in the head.

Lee, I think you're confusing him with someone else. IIRC he never left in a huff. He went to a larger 4x4 to accommodate his growing family and sold his Montero.

Wasn't he the "Jason" who also did some of the development on the turbo montero in the early days? If I remember correctly, he seemed to always be argueing with everyone, and left to start a different montero website?? And was always trying to get everyone to leave the wire, and join his site? It seemed he wasn't liked by many people here then. Most people seemed to bad mouth him, until the free montypics came out.....then they were buddy/buddy with him?
I was pretty sure that was the same guy? Or was that a different Jason???
