I want to say the flakey stuff goes between the shims and the pads. There should actually be a plastic slit shim between the metal shim and the pad. I can't remember if the shims were included in the kit.

The non-metallic grease goes in the boots for the slide pins. You want grease on the outside of the pins, not in the middle.
