I used 3/4 ton Chevy 73- 87 add-a-leaf in place of the 1/2" overload spring on my Mitsu truck. It improved the load carry and made the entire spring pack lift about 2".
83 mitsu flat bed 2.6l weber, 88 auto tranny, 2" body lift, 4.625 LSD, 235/85-16E mudders (33 x 9.50).

The only thing I worry about with the add-a-leaf is making the ride too harsh. I will not be doing any towing with it. I have a 99 2500 Dodge for that. I am leaning toward the shackles so it will still flex. I like the balljoint spacer idea. I am assuming that is so the angle is not thown off after cranking the torsion bars.

I do not run a bj spacer. Many people do not like them. I have gen 2 uca. Besides I dont know if you can run a BJ spacer on Gen1 arms.

I never liked the extended shackles on the rear, as it hurts departure angle. I like the re-arch, perhaps plus the add a leaf if you have load problems.

re-arched is probably the way to go depending on the price.

I made some longer shackles and I hate them, they get hung up on stuff a lot. I also took out the two middle leaves in the pack and replaced them with Dodge dakota leaves, the leaves are a little thicker and had a little more arch. That gave me about 2", but my stock springs were pretty sagged.

Price is what I was thinking. I haven't checked but I bet its expensive. I don't like the thought of them hanging so low either but it may be the only way I can afford it.

Summit Racing Get new bushings for the front shackles from a 1983 Toyota 4x4 pickup from your local Toyota parts department.

I think 94 bones just for some bent metal and bolts is crazy. Thanks for the link though. I think I will make my own. I'm just wondering if I should add 2" to my stock ones. I got access to welders, torches, and metal. The hardware store will have grade 8 bolts. And I guess you only have to put them on the back of the back leafspring? Any thoughts?
