The roads are open already. Big bear is not exactlly the high sierras and the roads never really close unless the weather is really extreme, since they get plowed on the regular to accomodate the skiers. Spring is the Off season there. Looks like I might have to make it Memorial day. Camps spots are still available at Crab Flats that weekend, which is the best centralized location to all the trails. I might get a cabin near there since the spring rates are pretty good and the wife was such a good sport in the snow during the mojave road trip.

If you look at the thread from 07 thats linked above, that was the weather we had that may..pretty good. I'll hope for the same.

The rock is less porhyritic at Bear Valley, slightly less weathered. Hey, it's one way to tell them apart!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

I had fun on the Crab Flats trail seems like a hundred years ago in my LUV. I don't even think Melinda and I were married yet, it's been so long. Have fun, guys!!

OK guys, at the wifes request, I have a small cabin reserved at green valley lake for friday night 22, 23,and 24 May. This spot is just down the road from the crab flats campground. So for those who are camping at crab flats meet up in the morning will be easy. Make reservations at reserveamerica.com asap. There were still spots available for the long weekend when I checked a couple days ago. Looks like Carlos will be making it out. Dat, hope to see you there too.

Ok, I'm trying to get the soccer schedule for the kid over that weekend. If there's no soccer, we should be able to make it down. I'll keep you posted. Anyone want to split a site at CF? I am willing to pay half up front and will either will not expect reimbursement from my "partner" if I can't show.

Thanks,

I am so there.

Jon, what's the deal with the split campsite? Is it large enough for your stuff and my large tent? I'll be bringing my two kids, GF and camp gear. If so, I can share with you. PM me the details. Otherwise, I'll just reserve another campsite.

I'd get there late Friday night cuz I can't get off that Friday.
