I suspect that I may be the only one out there with a starter on the passenger side of the 3.4. It really isn't worth the effort.

The simplest way to approach the problem is to drill the driver's side and use the stock 2.8 starter.

For what it is worth, I am using a starter motor from an early Toyota 20R wit the internal case bolts and a GM conversion nose piece.

That also means that I have a modified bell housing to create an entrance for the nose of the starter.

I believe that I was the first to put a 3.4 into a Trooper in place of the 2.8 and everyone else (to my knowledge) has drilled the driver's side bosses and put the starter there.
