A few years ago one of the off road magizines did an artical on water proofing. It seems like they ran the vents under the hood and attached them to either the firewall or into the air cleaner box. If you have an open air cleaner you won't want to do that because it needs to be before the the filter not after. If you attach it to the fire wall make a half loop and have the open ends faceing down, it will be harder for anything to get in and clog it that way.
