Hey thanks guys.
I have my Trooper in my shop now. Haven't done much yet, this recession sucks, I can't focus on the problem without worrying about how much anything I find wrong is going to cost.
I did check out the 4btswaps forum and really like it so a big thank you for sharing that. The Cummins four banger is a noisy engine, but dang, all that torque, gotta love that after trying to work the C233T. Unfortunately, ebay sellers are real proud of the Cummins, and that makes me appreciate the C223T more.
I'd love to put the Cummins 4BT in my F-150 4X4 and resurrect it as a biodiesel ranch-use serious off-road work truck, then the dream is dashed on the rocky shores of reality, by this friggin recession.

Anyway, yeah I was looking at the turbo and indeed it appears to be leaking into the exhaust. It had occurred to me that all that oil from the last turbo blowout was caught up in the baffles of the exhaust system but not that it would harm the replacement turbo. It makes sense. I'll look at that, maybe I'll pull the exhaust system off my other Trooper.

The important thing is to keep moving forward. I have the Trooper, I need to fix it no matter what else I do.
In the meantime a client for a WiFi installation I did way up in the mountains for a remote wireless link has become a good friend and has let me trade one repair for a down payment on a 1992 Dodge with the 6BT (6 cylinder) Cummins.

We'll see how that goes, hopefully I'll get more hours at work and life will resume financial normalcy soon.
Again thanks
