KG6VNX here. I've had my Tech license for almost 5 years. Just passed my General exam yesterday. I also took the Extra exam (never studied for it) but failed. I'll try again next month, I think.
Next step is finding a tower and an HF radio <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I am KF6ZPL
While I do carry a 2 meter radio, I am an infrequent user outside of the San Diego area.
And, I do travel significantly outside my home area.
I am interested in finding repeaters in central California and in the Bishop, CA area that area used by 4 wheelers.

Once I found out I could use my post office box as an address, I was ok with it. I'll even do the plates now, once the address change gets handled.

I need to either replace my microphone or buy a new mobile. We should try to hook up on a repeater some time. NV isn't that big of a hop.

I currently don't have a Ham rig, just a CB. I've been thinking about getting a 2m mobile for my truck. It has been so long though I would have to re-learn all the radio etiquette. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

2-meter is pretty relaxed. Pretty much just identify yourself and don't use any of "the 7 words" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Remember that nets that run on whatever repeater you're on get priority (as a matter of etiquette) and you shouldn't have any problems.

Well the 7 words shouldn't be a problem. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'll start looking into the repeaters here in NV/CA area, I've only been here for about 2.5 years.

My brother was in Guatamala with the 82nd Airborne. I used to talk to him through a militay operator..over. Anyway I was cussing up a storm until I got my ass chewed by the operator. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
I also got a stern talking to from the harbor master on my dads MArine radio. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Interesting Read ...First time i saw a two way transmission i was aboard a destroyer ...i learned to read light before i could read code (1950`s ) first licenced in 1959 let it lapse 10 years later after getting married ...relicensed in 1986 ,still retain novice calls ...Great hobby ,not as active as i once was .I encourage every one to stick to it .NO CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR TECH . <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Greetings! N4KCN here. I am a General.
For those worried about posting call signs, think of all of the people that hear your call when you ID on the air- both on the ham and scanner listeners.
