2-meter is pretty relaxed. Pretty much just identify yourself and don't use any of "the 7 words" Remember that nets that run on whatever repeater you're on get priority (as a matter of etiquette) and you shouldn't have any problems.

Well the 7 words shouldn't be a problem. I'll start looking into the repeaters here in NV/CA area, I've only been here for about 2.5 years.

That explains alot.
My brother was in Guatamala with the 82nd Airborne. I used to talk to him through a militay operator..over. Anyway I was cussing up a storm until I got my ass chewed by the operator.
I also got a stern talking to from the harbor master on my dads MArine radio.

That's so cool!
I'm thinking again about going for my Extra class in July. I haven't been studying though.

N6OIL used to be KE6NIG tech class someday when work isn't busting my chops I'll upgrade. I do mostly 70cm on a closed repeater system. Been hamming since the late 80's

Interesting Read ...First time i saw a two way transmission i was aboard a destroyer ...i learned to read light before i could read code (1950`s ) first licenced in 1959 let it lapse 10 years later after getting married ...relicensed in 1986 ,still retain novice calls ...Great hobby ,not as active as i once was .I encourage every one to stick to it .NO CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR TECH .
