I hate to part with it, but it's repair has gotten out of my ability. An easy fix for someone who actually has skills, I am sure- but not me.
It is in Marshalltown, IA.
http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/1137153619.htmlI have an 1995 Mitusubishi Montero SR that I would like to sell. It has 208k, with an engine rebuild at 146k. It has no mechanical problems and I drove it here across the country with no problems. It is a perfectly good vehicle with some caveats: it has a problem with the transmission- the switch that senses the gear lever position has a fault, so the computer won't let it upshift to 3rd and 4th. The same switch also serves as the start inhibitor, meaning that if the vehicle doesn't know what gear it is in, the computer won't let it start (safety - no good to start the engine in gear). Once that switch is replaced, it should be good to go. I was in a minor accident with it, which I had the functional damage repaired from (have receipt)- but there is still some body damage which is cosmetic. The real damage was fixed. I need to drive cross country in a few weeks and I can't do the work myself (no tools) and I don't want to waste the money to have a shop do it. If you can do the work yourself, you can come out ahead on this by a long shot. I have lots of paperwork for maintenance and repairs that have been done on it since my family bought it around 60k. Come out and take a look at it. On my honor, it is a good vehicle with one problem to fix that I can't do myself. Feel free to email or call with any questions.
