I'm still 50/50 on making this trip but in either case I'd like to advise that anywhere low, and anywhere near any kind of water out there is absolutely overrun with bugs in spring/early summer - not just nuisance flies either. After the sun goes down it's insect/arachnid party time. Best bet is to avoid any water when it comes time to camp.

Crap, we can always just find a spot as we get into there. Does any body have any suggestions on what trails we should plan for?

We could start in Superior and work back to the south and west via Telegraph Canyon to the trail that comes out of Box Canyon, which leads us to a whole mess of trails. My neighbor and I saw some cool potential camping spots just outside of Superior, BTW.

First, we need to figure out if we are going to head in friday night or if we are just going to start first thing saturday morning. I liked JBFP's idea about heading out friday late afternoonish or early evening.
Second, I like the superior idea cause it would be alot cooler especially for camping. but if we are planning on doing two camp spots then at least 1 night we would have to deal with the warmer climate. If we end up doing the hackberry thing then skipping martinez would probably be a good idea. I'm willing to skip that trail only because I think we have all ran it on several occasions.
My suggestions for trails would be: woodpecker mine, ajax, martinez cabin and maybe canyon, jack handle, and coke ovens

I think the plan so far is going to be to hit florence Friday evening and head in. I'm not real sure where exactly I'm gonna camp out yet but I figure I will find some where with a little more elevation and a dry area. On saturday LT is gonna meet us a designated meet spot first thing in the morning and The first trail will be the full loop of martinez.
I know its a little ways away but do we have some sort of a head count on who's going? Any maybe's?

I'm not so sure you can do the martenez loop, I'm pretty sure it's still washed out. I heard this is part of the reason for the closure, the last time i was there it was washed out so we just went up past the mill and back down.

I heard this is part of the reason for the closure, the last time i was there it was washed out so we just went up past the mill and back down. I'm in - this should be fun. Doubt I'll run the full loop regardless though since I still have purty rocker panels and won't have $$$ to ensure they stay that way, any time soon.
