There's Joni too, if you're counting passengers. I'm also trying to convince another buddy or two to join us.

Clay, you just let us help you look like the four wheeling God, and she'll be all yours. We can make it look like we should consult with you on all things off-road. Plus you can do the little things...watch other's lines, listen to your spotter, stay off the gas. And don't scream like a girl. Just a tip. Not that I know. Really.

Well depending on how pat feels about it, my thought was that we could all meet at his pad around 530ish and then when his better half gets done with work we can head out.

Also, I think the plan is going to be to hit up woodpecker and Ajax on saturday. Woodpecker is a bit lengthy if I remember right but Ajax is a pretty short trail. I think we will do Ajax into woodpecker, I believe there is a exit out of Ajax right into the Woodpecker trail. Then I was thinking after the 2 trails on Saturday we would go from florence to superior for a little bit cooler weather the second night.

On Sunday, we will do Miners Revenge, I don't know how long the trail is. If we finish it early enough we can also do Hackberry Creek or some other trail of preference to someone.

This is gonna be the plan unless for some reason we have to change it. I think we are gonna take the trail up to florence instead of getting back on to the Highway. We'll let johnny lead the way for that one if he feels confident. We are gonna be getting all the way points in the GPS set along with all the maps to go with it this way we don't have to waist so much time scrambling around trying to find the right trails.

Looking forward to it.

SR Update: The oil leak from the front main seal seems to have all but stopped. I no longer find oil drips under the truck. I'm coming up on an oil change already, and I think I'll switch to Shell Rotella T synthetic in 5W-40. Tough stuff and a tad thicker than the 5W-30 that has been in it.

The temp. guage only rises above half way in one type of circumstance, that being when you're climbing a trail at low speeds, asking for some power...and the wind is blowing at the rear of the truck. I've seen it climb to 3/4 or higher and a couple of times I've had to shut off the a/c and dump heat through the heater. This happened once when I went out with Pa_Jero and once this past weekend. The a/c pusher fan does not turn on, so I'll be looking to put a switch on it.

Don't forget (I have) to put the truck in 2WD after you unlock the hubs. If you're in AWD/center diff open, and unlock the hubs (if you have them), the truck is very efficient at directing power to the front without moving the vehicle much. Makes you think the transmission is going out. I tried to back up after I aired up a couple of weeks ago and it didn't want to go. I know, I know.

Has anyone looked into the price of the stock, adjustable shocks for the SR? I like the feature a lot and I tend to think that 164,000 miles is pretty much all I could ask out of them, plus the driver's side rear is leaking. If they're ridiculously priced, as I expect them to be, I'll go with KYB gas-a-justs...and maybe use the switch for something else...smoke screen, oil dump, nail dispenser, license plate changer.

The vibration issue I had is pretty much gone and the vehicle drives really nice. Just not so much on windy days. It does not like cross-winds.

The cruise control has its days. Sometimes the green light in the dash will only come on for a second and won't engage. Sometimes it works great right up until it doesn't want to work and disengages without warning. Some times it works just fine.

I haven't really been keeping track of the fuel mileage because the automatic shuit-off on pumps varies so much. I figure about 17, but it may be higher on level ground with no wind. I am running premium, as it is suggested. I should be breaking even on that, I figure, since the engine will max out its timing advance, giving me better power and slightly better fuel mileage. I know that the Aisins also play a part.

I am not running any more than about 30 lbs. in the tires, since the rims are only 7" wide, but the lower pressure keeps the tread wearing even. Off road I usually drop down to 15, but if the tires are hot after a long drive to the trail, they'll be even lower after a night of sitting at a camp site. They'll also be quite low if you air up at 7300 feet elevation then drive into the valley. Mine went from 27.5 lbs. (warm) to 21 lbs, (cold) after I did that. And it took a long time to fill them up there, too. On the other hand, a cold tire with 35 in it here in Phoenix will be considerably higher once you drive up to, say, Flagstaff.

I eventually will replace the six speakers in this vehicle. A couple of them sound a little tore up when I get on the volume. I was looking at inexpensive, but decent sounding Pioneers in 6x9, 5.25 and 4" sizes and could get all six for about $180.00. I just don't listen to the radio that much to put this any higher on the priority list.

I really should try to get the "cop" light to work. I'm not sure why it doesn't turn on at all, but it's got to be a fuse, bulb or wiring connection. Can't be too tough.

Tip for the day: Spray silicone lubricant on all door seals. Mine would squeak going over things when the body would flex a little, but that quiets them right down.

See ya next week!

Sounds like its coming along jbfp i'd go buy a new fan clutch and find another a/c fan in a junkyard both are pretty cheap. I think toasty found shocks that will work with the factory adjusters.

I bet the vib was from may funny wear on the tires and now they have trued them selfs since you got it all rebuilt and aligned.

In more on the camping/wheeling weekend John H said he will meet up with adam on sat and roll with him and meet us, and wheel for the day.

JBFP those shocks are about $2000 from Koni. Just buy KYB or Bilstien adjustables, I'm sure you get your moneys worth out of the Koni's but that's a steep price for stock length shocks. and get the infinity speakers <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
