Sounds like you had a blast. I recently met 'Chief' during a local parts yard trip and he spoke of what sounds like the same or similar event.
Definitely need a good navigator & driver to do well. Not having either would make it a much harder challenge.
Not that I'd be an awesome driver but who knows. Definitely something I'd love to try once my build up is done. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I'd definitely recommend trying. One of the guys mentioned they brought somebody with Montero awhile back (must be I looked in 2001-2006 scoring no Montero there).

How did the Montero stack up against the Lexus ? He went everywhere I went and I went everywhere he did. So it was a draw. One thin on my side was tighter turning radius. Negotiating narrow shelf roads sometimes he had to do 2 point turn where I could just go, and 3 point where I had to do 2 point etc. On many of those roads those Hummer guys couldn't fit period. half the people had OME including that Lexus. Go figure

Hey we have a short TV episode about it. I managed to appear in couple shots. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> http://www.atyourleisure.info/episodes.asp?season=7&episode=34&category=2

Alex,
Great write up, and great pics. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
BTW I was talking to the guys in the green Defender 90, and they told me about the white Defender 110 that almost went off the cliff, scary stuff. They also told me that they met you. Nice bunch of people overall.
And YES, until your participation, I believe that I may havew been the sole Montero on that run in the past. I'm definently going to try to make it next year, also hoping that your write up inspires others on this forum to do the same.
Good job.
