Hello everyone, long time reader, never posted much before.I had a nice 97 SR as my handle indicates up till last week when some yoyo ran a stop sign. It looks like the insurance company is going to total it for the grand sum of 4625.Not happy but thats it. I was wondering if any of the Calif. guys where any where near Stanton They have a 97 SR there and wondered what kind of shape it was in.Its at Autohouse Imports 10241 Beach Blvd. Stanton Ca. Thanks for your help.Tom

Yes i saw the pictures. I was thinking of buying it and shipping to Fla. I was hoping someone was close enough to go take a look at it for me.

Are you gonna get to keep your totaled SR? I could definitely use some stuff off of it. I am in Port Charlotte.
Thanks... Ed

Is it damaged beyond repair? I had an accident, some bastard hit me from behind and a semi on the side, on my SWB and Allstate, the bastard's insurance, wanted to total it as well, $65 later it is as if nothing ever happened. These insurance companies are always looking for the easiest way out, they are a bunch of blood suckers. they want your money every month but they are not there when you need them.
Alright, alright I needed to vent; I feel better now.

Don't let them play the "buy it back from them" game!!! It's your vehicle, not thiers. You pay your premiums to have your vehicle fixed if it's in an accident. You really do have the option to keep it and they need to pay you to fix it. They have the right to put a cap on what they pay if the damage is more than the value, but that's it. If they value it at 4625, then they owe you that less your deductable, and you can take the cash and fix it yourself!

OR, take the cash, keep it, part it and buy another with the cash they gave you. The point is, the money's yours. I've never had a car totaled, but once they cut the check, they should give a $hit what you do with the truck...

if you do the buy back, youll get the value of the rig minus scrap value. at least thats what i got when i was rearended by some kid and they totaled out a already reconstructed vehicle for a dent in the rear door and fuel cell armor... should have seen the kids car . a little advice aquired from experience, do not attempt a body swap unless you have alot of time and access to the facilities to do it .
