The way i see it it is saving space. Its not inside the car.Why do you need more space on the back of the car?

It's nice having a rig with a easy access spare but I have one concern with our rear mounted swing-out design. If you look at where the bump stop is on the gate just below the glass, consider what would happen if you lightly backed into something or something smacked the spare fairly hard, your glass could explode!! I'm going to move my full size spare to the roof or inside because ......... I drive it like I stole it!!

Get a roof rack out of the junk yard off a EX and some ratchet straps to hold the tire on.

It was just an idea thrown like that, hoping it would lead to other ideas, and it did.I like what you wrote. You're a wise person(along with my friend fokion)and i will try to post safer comments from now on as i may lead the unwise into troubles.
Where is the spare tire inside the longbodied sporty? Is it in the floor on is it mounted on the side?I like the idea of the tire on the roof.It use to be i could'nt pull my trailer because the spare tire would come in contact with the fifth wheel. But ,with the 3in. lift installed, will fabricate a drop attachement for the hitch ball and the spare tire will clear.
