Honestly i dont think you'd have a problem with it with a 22re. Maybe with a v8, but not a 22re. There are so many of them living behind supercharged 3.4's with absolutely zero issues, i dont see how a measly little 22re could break one. I'm going to be running mine behind a s/c'd 3.4 and im not even worrying about it. I believe the newest one you can pick up that will work for you, is out of a 98 t100.
