Getting the Wheeling Fever

Ugh, this again. I'm going to work and getting off the highway i notice he tach bouncing around and almost dying so I pull off to a gas station. I am inspecting my coil, battery cables, maf etc etc. Everything looks fine but still barely running. I unplug the maf and viola, everything is fine. Truck is running and I go to work with the CEL on.
This was happening in December (ran great without maf plugged in) and I replaced the coil and everything was fine until now. I could try that again but I dont know what the coil and maf have to do with each other. Before it was alternating running great without the maf and then it would start missing, so you plug it in and then its fine for a few hours then its starts over.
I am really stumped and SO busy right now its had to deal with it right now. Theories? Local folks around that can troubleshoot?
Thanks everybody.
